Life is way too short. Nothing is promised in this world. There’s not enough time to be lazy and wait around for things. 2020 has brought the untimely deaths of several stars who died well before their time. These include: Kobe Bryant and the other victims of the helicopter crash, Pop Smoke’s murder, and Juice WRLD’s death. These losses show death waits for no one, no matter your status or success. I did not know any of the victims who have died this year but the thing that really impacted me was their age. Pop Smoke was 20, Juice WRLD was 21, Kobe was 41, and the children in the Kobe’s crash were 13 years old. Although Kobe was 41 and was just beginning a career outside of the NBA, these victims weren’t able to reach their full potential. They all had so much more to accomplish and all I keep asking myself is “Would they be content with what they accomplished? Or would they strive for more?” These deaths are impacting so many because of the effect these celebrities had on people. Kobe was an inspiration to many with the “Mamba Mentality”. Pop Smoke and Juice WRLD were using music to reach others, especially kids close in age. The one thing that gives life meaning is death, ironically. It makes life limited, nonrenewable, and precious. These deaths have shown me sometimes life may be taken granted. I’m guilty of it. I find myself doing things without thinking and waiting for things to come to me, when I don’t have the time. After each of these deaths I found myself in bed just thinking. Some thoughts were me questioning myself, and others were pushing me to stop waiting and go. So now I tell you, instead of waiting for opportunities to just magically show up, take advantage of every outlet you have. If something you want to do is within your grasp, grab it.
Take advantage of the time you have, don’t let it waste away.
